Sarah Helge graduated from Alma college with a BA in French and English and a secondary teaching certificate. After teaching both subjects in the Upper Peninsula for four years, she taught GED completion courses and English as a Second Language to U.S. Army personnel for three years, then taught in the CETA program in Louisiana. In Minnesota, while raising two children, Mrs. Helge returned to a previous avocation which had begun while studying piano for twelve years. She directed a large church youth choir for five years and went back to accompanying both vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles for rehearsals and performances. She currently performs on piano in a string trio with her children, is musically active in the community at the Ramsdell and the Congregational Church. She started teaching choir at MHS in 2003.
