I am beginning my first season as video coordinator for the University of Utah Men’s Basketball team. My responsibilities include coordinating video-scouting operations in addition to assisting with all of the day-to-day operations of the program. I also focus my efforts on aiding with practice sessions and supervising the team's corps of managers. I came to Salt Lake City from Western Michigan where I spent two years as the coordinator of basketball operations for the Western Michigan Men’s Basketball Program. One of my most rewarding jobs at Western Michigan was coordinating a program that reached out to at risk students in Kalamazoo Public Schools. Through Communities In Schools, Western Michigan’s head coach, Steve Hawkins, and several players from the WMU basketball team went into classrooms every week and talked to students about the realities of becoming a college student and student-athlete. I also coordinated a program called Bronco for a Day. This program allowed at risk students to spend a day with our team. After coming to practice in the morning they had a chance to spend the remainder of the day with one of our players. I started my college basketball career at Grand Valley State where I spent five years as a member of the Lakers' basketball program. I was an assistant coach for one season after spending the previous four seasons as a student assistant. During the summers I was active working the summer camp circuit. I have been an instructor at Western Michigan, Michigan, Central Michigan, Oakland and Grand Valley State. Basketball has opened up several doors for me. I have traveled to every part of the United States as well as Australia, Greece, and Italy. The opportunities that I have received in the last few years would have never been possible without the foundation that I was given during my time at Manistee Public Schools. I was interested in sports, but my sports background by itself would have never been enough to accomplish my goals. Throughout my school years in Manistee numerous teachers were influential in my life. I am currently finishing my last two classes in order to receive my Master's Degree in Business Administration. It is challenging and there are days when I get frustrated, but I know that my education is important. I learned that from an early age in Manistee.
